General Function: Under the supervision of the Senior Accounting Specialist and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established policies and goals of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas, the Accounting Clerk is a member of a team that is responsible for supporting business and administrative transactions for Association Centers.
Qualifications: 1.
Minimum 21 years of age.
2.
A High School Diploma is required.
An Associate’s degree in a related field is preferred; a Minimum of two (2) years administrative experience and working in an office environment is preferred.
3.
Must be detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize efficiently, reliable, and provide quick and accurate data entry.
4.
Must be able to master proprietary software and have experience with a variety of software applications with computer proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel.
5.
Must demonstrate leadership and the ability to work well with others.
6.
Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire.
7.
Complete and maintain required training to include: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment.
8.
Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.
9.
Contingent upon acceptable credit report results.
Essential Functions: 1.
Supports the mission, vision, and goals of the YMCA.
2.
Promote a professional values-based culture by leading with the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
3.
Lead in a manner that advances our cause to strengthen the foundations of the community through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
4.
Wear a name tag and professional attire.
Finance 1.
Records Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activity in reconciliation software.
2.
Enters monthly journal entries.
3.
Supports internal controls: safe and cash handling audits, facilitating and maintaining deposits of point-of-sale software.
4.
Supports the Association audit needs to include but not be limited to research, copying, journal entry preparation, and generating reports.
5.
Supports the Association’s Purchasing Card System to include but not be limited to training, auditing cardholder statements, maintaining files, and generating monthly reports and statements.
6.
Maintains vendor contracts and supports the annual Independent Contractor audits.
7.
Assists in preparation for Association Annual 1099 Filing.
8.
Provides documentation related to Reserve Purchases, Capital Campaign Expenses, Assets to be capitalized and monthly/yearly reporting 9.
Assist with Annual and Capital Campaign data entry and reporting 10.
Maintain the Volunteer Matters database as it relates to Advisory Board data and special events.
11.
Special Projects and other related duties as assigned by the Director of Administrative Services and Vice President of Finance/Controller.
Risk Management 1.
Act as a leader in emergency situations.
Report any accidents or incidents according to the Emergency Communication Action Plan in a timely manner.
2.
Ensure all members, guests, and program participants are in a safe environment and actively follow the Center's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).

9.
Ability to reason and define difficult problems with direction as to means and results.
10.
Ability to meet the physical demands of this position, which include mobility for travel to onsite support of Centers (various locations as needed), conferences, touring facilities and properties, and participating in promotional and special events sponsored by the Association.
11.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 10 lbs.
