Description
Starting Salary: 37,144 +/- Depending on Qualifications
Under supervision, performs administrative-clerical work in the County Treasurer's Office.
Employee must be able to respond to problems and complaints and deal with taxpayers efficiently and effectively.
Employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative and have strong attention to detail.
Reports to the Chief Deputy Treasurer.
Job Highlights
Greets taxpayers.
Handles large amount of money in the collection of payments, fees and taxes.
Collects personal property, real estate, utility, and State tax payments over the counter, online, and through the mail.
Receives, verifies, and processes manually and in computer system all monies collected by other county departments and offices.
Receives rabies certificates from local veterinarians and other Virginia Treasurer’s Offices.
Researches taxpayer accounts.
Locates and notifies Commissioner of the Revenue's Office of tax errors and address changes.
Composes and prepares a variety of correspondence.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma/GED.
One (1) to two (2) years of experience that includes data entry and automated record keeping.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
