CT Technologist

Position Summary The CT Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic computerized axial tomography (CAT) scanning procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent, high-quality examinations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Performs diagnostic CAT scanning procedures.
Maintains the CAT scanning equipment in good operating order; cleans/maintains the CAT room.
Initiates the computer into its proper program and starts the X-ray equipment.
Assembles the X-ray film, CAT scans, and other necessary diagnostic information in its proper order for the physicians interpretation.
Maintains quality control of CAT equipment to ensure that both the computer and radiographic equipment are operating properly.
Responsible for anticipating potential patient complications.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology.
Knowledge in starting IVs and administration of contrast.
Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
Skill in excellent customer service.
Skill in using CT machine.
Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
Ability to work independently.
Education / Training / Requirements High School diploma/GED.
Six to twelve months related experience/training.
Completion of ARRT program.
Registered as a CT Technologist.
Licensed in the state of Virginia.
CPR Certified.
Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Ability to sit for periods of time.
Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time.
Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs.

* Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone.
Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
